Meet Our Inn Sitters

With only a few days in between Visiting Innkeepers, we have the pleasure of offering a unique gift of a Mom and Daughter team to host as Innkeepers for the month of March 2010.

We met Jodie and her family during their 11 weeks in Kauai. We fast became friends and I am really excited to see how they make the Innkeeper experience their own. I think our guests will be in for a real treat being served by these wonderful creative divas.

Alexis and Mike will be spending quality time with their grandchildren on the mainland and re-gearing up to return for the busy and fun summer months on the most beautiful place on the earth------our garden paradise on Kauai

Happy travels and a carefree stay!

Shelagh Marsh:

Living in the resort town of  Parksville on  Vancouver Island , Shelagh can be found in the sewing room, in the kitchen, or on the golf course (weather permitting).

Mom never gets tired of reading cookbooks and is always trying out her new recipes for the golf club ladies...lucky them, as she's quite a cook!  Being on the executive committees of two women's golf leagues gives her an opportunity to use both her organization and accounting skills from thirty years as account manager for MacMillan Blodel.

Her first sewing adventures came when Jodie took up Polynesian dancing at thirteen.   As a gifted stage mom, Shelagh visited  Hawaii often in search of authentic costumes and implements used in Maori, Samoan, Tahitian, Hawaiian and  Ancient Hawaiian dance.  During her six years of dance, Jodie earned several awards and danced professionally, shak'n her hips (they've slowed down some over the past 20 yrs).

Enough about Jodie's hips...  Fast forward and you'll still find Shelagh making a unique contribution with her talent.  Inspired by her beloved grandson Nathaniel, she makes uniquely designed winter clothing for children who use wheelchairs.  Her exquisite designs cannot be found anywhere.  Shelagh does not take any money for these items but simply asks families to take a picture of the child donning their duds!  Her wall of fame gets bigger each year. I've seen moms break down in tears when they try the new items for the first time.

Shelagh is excited to work at Marjorie's so she can bake scones and cookies to her heart's content...  Come on over...  We can't wait to serve you!

Jodie Johns :

Ok, ok...I can't shake'em like I used to, but if you beg me, I might be able to toss the poi balls around!

Our family spent 11 weeks in  Kauai just six months ago and I'm certain we saw almost every site imaginable!  This time I will be the guide!   Although I have stayed at home for the past twelve years raising two precious boys, I've spent a good deal of time advocating in Washington DC with healthcare partners for the rights of children with chronic and special health care needs.

My husband is a partner at a national law firm and he will be holding down the fort while I am away.  When I return from  Kauai my husband and I plan to write a book together detailing our journey of living with children with medical needs.

Our meeting  Alexis & Mike was truly a gift.  In  Minneapolis, we host various non-profit events for families like ours.   We look forward to sharing QUALITY, FUN & THE VERY BEST OF KAUAI with you during the month of March.

Won't you join us?
